A bitcoin wallet doesn't hold bitcoin — it holds keys. The coins live on the chain; the keys prove they answer to you. When a wallet shows you 12 words at setup, those words ARE the keys: written on paper they survive any phone. Whoever holds the words holds the money — that's not a bug, that's the whole idea. Self-custody means no company between you and what's yours.

Bring a phone to a meetup and someone will happily walk you through a first wallet, face to face, in ten minutes. That beats any tutorial — and it's free.

This site runs on nostr: the same trick — a key you own — used for identity instead of money. When you RSVP here, your browser mints a key and signs a note; no account, no email, no password to reset. Your key is portable to hundreds of other nostr apps, and nobody can delete it out from under you.

▸ the @tag — what a name on bitcoin means

This community can hold a Spaces protocol name — a handle like @meetkitdemohall anchored on the bitcoin chain itself, not rented from a registrar. Members can be seated under it (you@community), verified by the same chain everyone can check. Spaces names renew on-chain about yearly, and subnames cost the community nothing to hand out.
